WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?
Essential oils are extracted parts of certain herbs, plants, leaves and rinds. The process of fabrication of essential oil is complexe and super delicate. It is the use of different scientific or traditional method to concentrate the extracted part of the plant into oils (carriage oil). Most of the essential oils are done by mixing the extracted part with vegetable oils or creams. Essential oils have different uses: perfumes, cosmetics, soaps and other products. They are often used for aromatherapy, a form of alternative medicine in which healing effects are ascribed to aromatic compounds.
If you are not an Essential Oils expert, it is recommended to ask your doctor before using them.
DO ESSENTIAL OILS IF YOU ARE FEELING WORRIED AND NERVOUS?
Most of the essential oils have the capacity to calm your mind. Our sense of smell is underestimated. Few drops of Lavender Essential oil on your pillow before going to bed can help you relax and fight insomnia. As well, Camomille, sage, rosewater… these Oils can help you cal your worries, anxiety and nervousness.
DON’T LISTEN TO BUSINESS BUZZWORDS
Certainly, the objective of every business it to sell! BINGO! However as customers we have the responsibility to choose! don’t listen to seller telling you it is safe because it a plant extract product! Essential oils can be dangerous and irritating. Try to avoid the contact of essential oils with your skin and i would suggest keep it out of your food. Essential oils could cause allergic reactions.
DO ASK AN EXPERT
Two things i would suggest to do when you are a beginner in essential oils. First ask an expert or even read blogs online. There are tons of them. And second ask your doctor. It is important to know that the essential oil that you have chosen doesn’t cause any bad reaction with the medicine you are taking, even the herbal medicine.
DON’T USE THEM ON DAMAGED SKIN
Most people I know would use drops of Lavender oil on their damaged skin and this is super dangerous! Injured or inflamed skin will absorb the oil you are using and may cause unwanted skin reactions. Always dilute the oil or put the essential oil on a clean kleenex.
DO LOOK AT THE AGE RESTRICTION
I personally wouldn’t suggest essential oils for children (below 12), elderly and pregnant women. These fragile people are more sensitive to essential oils than the other age ranges. so you need to dilute them more. Also don’t use essential oils on babies.
During pregnancy, most scientists would suggest to use specific essential oils. Diffusing any essential oil can cause serious allergic reaction to pregnant women.
DON’T FORGET TO STORE THEM IN THE DARK AND AT ROOM TEMPERATURE
Please make sure not keep your essential oils in the sun, in a room full of sunlight, in the a very warm space or in a very cold space. Essential oils molecules may transform and may get dangerous to use. The best place to store your essential oils is in a closet out of the reach of children or pets.
DON’T EXAGGERATE. STAY REASONABLE!
Essential oils, unfortunately won’t solve your stress problems. Essential oils will help you get through a phase, an emotion, a situation but they won’t give you the answer for your problems. Overdoing essential oils can harm your health or your skin.
DO DILUTE THEM
Undiluted oils are too strong to use straight. You will need to add vegetable oils, coconut oil or cream oils to your final product. Again, using undiluted essential oil can be harmful. Some experts in essential oils may use the oils undiluted… but you know, this is why we call them experts 😉
Enjoy!!
